Sofia is Collaborating with Budapest

In mid-April, Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova met with Budapest Mayor Istvan Tarloş. They discussed future cooperation in the spheres of culture, tourism and economy and are to exchange expertise in these areas. In addition to the issues regarding the modernization of the public transport and the infrastructure development, the Szechenyi Baths and Budapest’s successful experience in the management of mineral springs and the development of balneology and spa tourism were also discussed. Sofia Municipality will be consulted by Hungarian specialists when designing a business model for the management and development of mineral baths in Sofia. Valued in the past by the Romans who built Roman Thermae (baths) in ancient Serdica, today the mineral treasure of Sofia offers eight types of mineral water and 40 springs as well as the opportunity to turn the city into a spa oasis.
