St. George the New of Sofia

St. George the New of Sofia (February 11) is one of the nine saints of Sofia. He was killed by the Turks on February 11, 1515 because of his refusal to convert to Islam. Today, part of the relics of the saint is kept in Dragalevtsi Monastery of the Holy Mother of God which is situated at the foot of Vitosha. On this day, a liturgy in his memory is held in the Rotunda of St. George (located in the courtyard of the Presidency).
