Three Holy Hierarchs (Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom); St Peter - Tsar of the Bulgarians
Several saints, who played a crucial role in shaping the Christian doctrine, are commemorated on January 30 - the Three Holy Hierarchs: Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom. All theological departments and religious academies in the Orthodox world celebrate on January 30. Tsar Peter - the longest ruling Bulgarian monarch and a saint, who lived in the time of the First Bulgarian Kingdom, is also commemorated on this day. He and Saint John of Rila are considered to be the greatest Bulgarian saints.
