Description
The museum “Boris Christoff” was established on 21 May 2003. It is a state institute by the Ministry of Culture. For its intense activity the museum was honoured with European Heritage Label (2008, Avignon). The museum is situated in the Sofia home of the great opera singer, pedagogue and benefactor Boris Christoff. Its exposition consists of authentic costumes that Boris Christoff wore on stage, letters, pictures, video recordings and objects from different stages of his career. Books, scores, records and video tapes are available in the museum’s library. The museum goes beyond the pure museum-like atmosphere. Its ambiance comes alive, embracing different art forms. Concerts, exhibitions, master classes, lectures, film screenings or literary evenings are regularly organised in the museum. Outdoor festivities take place in the “Boris Christoff’s garden” – the garden of the house. The museum’s aim is to connect the preservation of the maestro’s life and memory with the continuation of his great artistic legacy by the new generation of artists.
