Sofia Attended WTM London 2017 - the Leading Global Event for the Travel Industry

From November 6 to November 8 Sofia Tourism Administration represented Sofia at WTM London 2017 - the leading global event for the travel industry. The information stand of the capital was branded with the logo of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU and the logo of Sofia – European Capital of Sport 2018.

Advertising materials presented the rich cultural heritage of the capital – Saint Sophia Basilica and its underground museum, Sofia History Museum, the Boyana Church, the monasteries and temples around the city, etc. Sofia’s newest attractions - the Western Gate of Serdica Archaeological Park and the Triangular Tower of Serdica, were also presented. Professionals and end users received the most up-to-date catalogue of Bulgarian sites in the UNESCO list. This catalogue was prepared and published by Sofia Tourism Administration in the beginning of autumn and has also been presented at other international forums.

Each year the forum attracts over 5 000 exhibiting destinations and brings together nearly 52 000 travel professionals, key companies, journalists, students and end users.

The events calendar of the capital was also presented. Due to the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU and Sofia being European Capital of Sport in 2018 there was an increased interest in the cultural events in Sofia in 2018. The program of Sofia National Opera and Ballet also generated great interest. The stand of Sofia was visited by representatives of various travel agencies, tour operators, travel bloggers and media.
