In 2018 Sofia will have two new pedestrian zones

From March 1 on there will be 2 new pedestrian zones in Sofia. One of them will span from Alabin Street to Aleksandar Stamboliyski Blvd. and will be an extension of the pedestrian zone located on Vitosha Blvd. It will connect Vitosha Blvd and Sveta Nedelya Square and thus the archaeological excavations of Serdica will be easily accessed. Only trams will pass through the zone and no other vehicles will be allowed. The other pedestrian zone will be on George Washington Street where the Western Gate of Serdica is located. It will span from Trapezitsa Street to Pirotska Street. As of the beginning of March the speed limit on small central streets will be 30 km/h.
