Sofia introduces a new pedestrian orientation system for the tourists

Thursday, 01 March 2018

Very soon, thanks to the new signboards, the tourists coming to Sofia for the first time will be able to find their way around the city much more easily. The signs will display the names of the streets and sites both in Cyrillic and Latin alphabets as well as directions to the main sights - museums, temples, architectural monuments, etc. There will also be the so-called information totems which will display a map of the city as well as information about the cultural and historical landmarks.

The pedestrian orientation system which offers information on how to reach the sights of Sofia easily is designed by the team of Fullmasters Design Studio led by Philip Boyadzhiev. It will solve one of tourists’ main problems – reading in Cyrillic, as all names will be transliterated in the Latin alphabet. The font is specially designed for the system.

The design of the various elements of the system complies with the world standards. The signs contain elements that tourists regularly look for in other cities, and this will further facilitate them.
