In July 2019, the restoration of the temple of Kurilo Monastery St. Ivan Rilski was completed. On 21 July 2019, with the blessing of His Holiness Neophyte, Metropolitan of Sofia and Patriarch of Bulgaria, a solemn service was held to consecrate the renovated monastery. A unique monastery museum was also built there. In the temple are preserved several images of saints and some specific scenes, painted in 1596 by the famous artist Pimen Zografski. The monastery is part of the ring of monasteries near the Bulgarian capital, named due to its significance and the number of temples Sofia Holy Mount. The monastery is located 12 km from Sofia and 1 km from Kurilo quarter in the town of Novi Iskar.
