Tuesday, 29 October 2019

The newest kind of tulip in the world was named "Serdica" and the first bulbs were planted in the middle of October by the Dutch Ambassador Bea ten Tusscher and the Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Chavdar Marinov. Nearly 3,000 flowers of this kind will bloom in the spring of 2020 in the garden between the National Assembly and Sofia University in the Bulgarian capital. They will form a rose in the colors of the Bulgarian flag - white, green and red. The new type of tulip was selected in the Netherlands as a special gift for Bulgaria for the 110th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries. In June 2019, the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs Stef Blok gave a tulip certificate to the Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva. Today Sofia welcomes you in the colors of autumn - colorful, sunny, offering loads of places for relaxation and walking, as well as with the seasonal abundance of fruits, vegetables and sweet pumpkin and apple temptations … Check it out for yourself!
