The second largest railway station in Sofia - Poduyane Railway Station, has been completely renovated and already put into operation. The renovation was carried out with European funds under the operational program "Transport and Transport Infrastructure" and over BGN 2.9 million were invested in the site. Poduyane Station is part of the Sofia-Plovdiv railway line, which is the busiest one in the country.
The first track of Poduyane station was opened in 1917. The building of Poduyane Station was built in 1930 according to the project of architect Panayot Kalchev, one of the most prominent architects of railway stations in Bulgaria. Through the project, the decorative elements on the facade and in the waiting room have been restored. Their authenticity has been preserved and the pavilion built in the waiting room has also been preserved.
