A digital laboratory was opened at Sofia City Library. It offers young people innovative programs for learning a variety of digital skills in the field of interactive arts such as digitization and creative presentation of literary heritage, graphic design, 2D and 3D modeling and animation, creating VR / AR reality, Game design, etc. The new laboratory will offer a course in 2D animation led by the famous Bulgarian animator Nadezhda Slavova. Students from M. V. Lomonosov National Vocational High School - Sofia are to take part in the course.The Deputy Mayor of Sofia, Assoc. Prof. Todor Chobanov, who attended the opening ceremony, said that the Sofia City Library is one of the fastest growing cultural institutions in Bulgaria. He pointed out that even during the pandemic, the belief that this type of digitalization is needed, and it will make Sofia residents read even more has not waned.
With the new digital laboratory, the Library will become a kind of a digital hub for children and young adults with 4 locations - American Center, Children's Center, Digital Center and Teen Laboratory.
Every year, interesting educational campaigns, cultural initiatives and art formats are attended by nearly 500,000 people. 60% of the library's readers are between the age of 14 and 28.
The Digital Teen Laboratory project of Sofia City Library was implemented with the assistance of Sofia Municipality and Sofia Development Association.
Part of the equipment - computers and laptops for gamers, 3D printer, graphics tablets and others, are provided with the financial support of the US Embassy in Bulgaria.
The ceremony was attended by Herro Mustafa - US Ambassador to Bulgaria, and the mayor of Sredets district - Traicho Traikov.
