The Sofia Library presents the exhibition "Ilinden, mother Ilinden. Easter for the Bulgarians", dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising, the library reports.
The documentary exhibition includes valuable books from the holdings of the Sofia Library, which present the causes, preparation and organization of the uprising, biographies of its leaders, insurgent actions and consequences. A place is dedicated to the memories of the participants in the rebellion, as well as its reflection in folklore and fiction. Editions less known to the general public are also selected. Of particular interest are the memories of Slaveyko Arsov, Smile Voidanov, Boris Sarafov, Ivan Garvanov, Gyorche Petrov, the biographies of Hristo Matov, Diko Djelebov, the Sarafov family, and priests who participated in the uprising. As well as Dimo Hadjidimov's emblematic notes on the lessons of the uprising - the collection "Ilinden". The exhibition will be presented in the Marble Foyer of the Metropolitan Library. Visitors will be able to view it from 20.07.2023 until 04.08.2023.
