A Retro Train will travel from Sofia to Bankya

Lovers of retro trains will be able to treat themselves to a trip with a steam locomotive between Sofia and Bankya on September 23, BDZ reports. The event is part of the series of initiatives related to the celebration of the 135th anniversary of the foundation of the Bulgarian State Railways and 115 years since the declaration of the Independence of Bulgaria.

The train, consisting of a steam locomotive 01.23 and five carriages, will depart from Sofia Central Station at 10:00 a.m. and arrive in Bankya at 10:30 a.m. Passengers will have plenty of time to walk in Bankya City Park and explore the whole the renovated Central Mineral Bath in the city, which is within walking distance of the station. The train will depart from Bankya at 3:05 p.m. and arrive at Sofia Central Station at 3:35 p.m.

The price of the ticket for travel in both directions Sofia - Bankya - Sofia is BGN 30 including a reserved seat, and for all children up to the age of 10 the tickets will be half price. Tickets for this train can be purchased at ticket offices and railway offices in all stations in the country, as well as online at BDZ.
