Today, January 16, the photo exhibition "Artists for Children" will be opened in the Sredets Ggallery at the Ministry of Culture, the gallery reports. The event will be from 18:00. The exhibition combines photos from the traveling exhibition "Far from Africa", for which theater director Elena Panayotova and photographer Atanas Kanev received the "Plovdiv" 2023 award for outstanding achievements in the field of "photography", and the exhibition "Artists for Children" opened last year in Smolyan on photographers Atanas Kanev, Ivan Donchev and Maria Angelova.
The photos reflect activities under the Artists for Children program - a unique Bulgarian model for applying theatrical art for social change. The program involves multicultural teams of artists and children at risk in creative trainings and fabulous theater festivals, which have been realized for fifteen years in Bulgaria and six years in Africa. The exhibition includes footage from Kenya, Zanzibar and the Rhodope village of Shiroka Laka, where the festival activities of the program took place. The two photo exhibitions have been financed in two consecutive years by the National Fund Culture under the Socially Engaged Arts program. The exhibition can be viewed until January 31 at the Sredets Gallery in Sofia.
