Currency information

As of January 1, 2026, the official currency of the Republic of Bulgaria is the euro. One euro is divided into one hundred cents. Currency can be exchanged at banks or at one of the numerous exchange offices. Some of these exchange offices are also open on weekends. Euro checks can be cashed at a bank. Credit cards: Most hotels and shops accept VISA, Master Card, American Express or Diners Club.
