Spirit and matter fuse into one to introduce us to the world of sculptor Ivan Rusev, who narrates his artistic philosophy through stone objects, the fruit of the mental creativity materialized by his hands.

Baroque Arts Festival – 13th Edition

Sofia University St Kliment Ohridski - Ceremonial Hall, Serdica's Largo, National Academy of Music Hall, Bulgaria Hall, 5 Oborishte N5 Hall, Vasilevi Brothers Business Center, Nadezhda MCI
The festival is part of the Cultural Events Calendar of Sofia Municipality. It has established itself as the only festival in Bulgaria about ancient music. It presents the European musical art through historically informed performance and instruments relevant to the era in which the works were created, and thus places Sofia among the hosts of such festivals - Barcelona, London, Berlin, Istanbul, Bucharest and others.

Christmas Trees of Talent 2020

Stoyan Kambarev Foundation in partnership with Sofia Municipality.
Part of the campaign for the decoration of Sofia for the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The Christmas trees will be placed in front of the National Palace of Culture in the period 01.12.2019 - 15.01.2020.
The Christmas concert will be held on 01.12.2019.
The musical talents of Stoyan Kambarev Foundation will be the culmination of Sofia Municipality’s traditional concert and will close it with a spectacular Christmas show after the lighting of the Christmas tree by the Mayor of Sofia.
Before the show, gifts and vouchers will be given to the families in need and the host will explain the idea of the project. Then a photo of the families, children and talents of Stoyan Kambarev Foundation together with the Mayor of Sofia and the representatives of the companies participating in the project will be taken.
The relocation and afforestation will be on January 20 and will be specified later on.

Sofia Arsenal – Museum of Contemporary Art, 2 Cherni Vrah Blvd.
The exhibition includes works by artists of Bulgarian origin who create in the Nordic countries and are influenced in one way or another by the culture of that region. The purpose is not to show a comprehensive list of artists living there, but rather to present a constellation of different concepts, themes, media and approaches that excite the Bulgarian artists, touched by the magic of the North.
The project is organized by the ‘So Close, So Far’ Non-profit Organization, in partnership with Sofia Arsenal – Museum of Contemporary Art, State Agency for Bulgarians Abroad, and with the financial support of the Culture Programme of Sofia Municipality.

Lika Yanko is best known as a painter who went beyond the conventional concepts of expressive means through collaging various ‘accidentally’ found materials, through interweaving the abstract and figurative, through constructing forms of almost only one colour—white.

MASHA JIVKOVA-UZUNOVA (1903–1986) - Wife, model and painter

2019 marked the 120 years’ anniversary of the birth of Dechko Uzunov, for which occasion Dechko Uzunov Gallery presents one of the most important figures in the life of the artist – Masha Zhivkova-Uzunova, a wife, model and an artist. The exhibition highlights some of her finest works between 1920 and 1943, artwork of Dechko Uzunov with her at the main role, as well as some documentary photos of their life together.

Words, Images, Places - 140 years since the proclamation of Sofia as Capital of Bulgaria

The exposition includes works presenting the city from the end of the 19th century to present day. In addition to the paintings, there will also be postcards, photos and texts where you can read the impressions of Bulgarian and foreign travelers, diplomats and intellectuals regarding the changes and development of the city over the years - architectural, social, political events and people's participation in them.

Regional History Museum – Sofia presents “The Manifesting ideology 1944-1989”. The exhibition is to open its doors on November 7, 2019 and will run until March 31, 2020. It focuses on the years between 1944 – 1989 in Bulgaria. While using historical objects and artifacts the historical review analyzes the above mentioned time period.
Regional History Museum – Sofia brought the exhibition to life in partnership with: Bulgarian National History Museum, Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum at Bulgarian Academy of Science, Museum of Socialist Art and Bulgarian National Film Archive.

The cycle Ludmil Angelov plays Chopin includes two solo recitals and two concerts with Classic FM Radio Orchestra, which will take place in Bulgaria Hall during season 2019-2020. The series will present for the first time in Bulgaria an integral performance of all of Chopin’s works for piano and orchestra - 6 plays in total, as well as selected solo compositions from different periods.
The event marks the 170th anniversary of Chopin's death (October 2019) and the 210th anniversary of his birth (February 2020).

The Christmas trees will be placed in front of the National Palace of Culture in the period 01.12.2019 - 15.01.2020.
The Christmas concert will be held on 01.12.2019.
The musical talents of Stoyan Kambarev Foundation will be the culmination of Sofia Municipality’s traditional concert and will close it with a spectacular Christmas show after the lighting of the Christmas tree by the Mayor of Sofia.
Before the show, gifts and vouchers will be given to the families in need and the host will explain the idea of the project. Then a photo of the families, children and talents of Stoyan Kambarev Foundation together with the Mayor of Sofia and the representatives of the companies participating in the project will be taken.
The relocation and afforestation will be on January 20 and will be specified later on.

Saint Nicholas, the Miracle Maker (Nikulden)

On December 6, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church honors Saint Nicholas, the Miracle Maker (Nikulden). St. Nicholas is revered by both Catholics and Orthodox Christians. He is the patron saint of fishermen and sailors, as well as protector of the those that are suffering, innocent, weak and oppressed. Bankers also celebrate on this day. On this day every Christian family in Bulgaria celebrates and all housewives prepare a fish meal – most often a carp dish.
There are two temples in Sofia that bear the name of the saint - St. Nicholas of Myra, the Miracle Maker Church is in the city center (8 Kaloyan Street), opposite the Holy Metropolis of Sofia. The second temple honoring the saint is located in Vrabnitsa quarter.

In2it FIRST EUROPE TOUR

The Korean band IN2IT to perform in Europe for the first time! The musicians will perform in Bulgaria, Romania and Poland as part of their IN2IT X ION tour. N2IT is a South Korean boy band consisting of six members, winners of the Korean reality show BOYS24. They started their careers in 2017 with the single Amazing, which in a very short period of time reached the top of the charts. Since the beginning of their career, the band has performed over 400 concerts.

Deep Purple

The legends Deep Purple return to Bulgaria in December for a very special concert! Two years ago, the rock gods began the The Long Goodbye tour, which marked the ending of their concert performances. Lyube

In December, one of the biggest Russian music bands – Lyube, will perform two grand concerts - in Varna and Sofia, dedicated to the band's 30th anniversary.
During their jubilee concerts in Bulgaria, the artists, led by the legendary vocalist Nikolay Rastorguev, will perform their most popular songs in front of the Bulgarian audience.
Lyube is Russia's largest group whose music harmoniously mixes elements of rock, pop, Russian folk and military music. The formation was founded in 1989 and so far has released 10 studio albums and numerous concert recordings and CDs.

2019 marked the 120 years’ anniversary of the birth of Dechko Uzunov, for which occasion Dechko Uzunov Gallery presents one of the most important figures in the life of the artist – Masha Zhivkova-Uzunova, a wife, model and an artist. The exhibition highlights some of her finest works between 1920 and 1943, artwork of Dechko Uzunov with her at the main role, as well as some documentary photos of their life together.

Words, Images, Places - 140 years since the proclamation of Sofia as Capital of Bulgaria

Regional History Museum – Sofia presents “The Manifesting ideology 1944-1989”. The exhibition is to open its doors on November 7, 2019 and will run until March 31, 2020. It focuses on the years between 1944 – 1989 in Bulgaria. While using historical objects and artifacts the historical review analyzes the above mentioned time period.
Regional History Museum – Sofia brought the exhibition to life in partnership with: Bulgarian National History Museum, Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum at Bulgarian Academy of Science, Museum of Socialist Art and Bulgarian National Film Archive.
