The Regional History Museum - Sofia presents the exhibition Biennale of Illustration 2020

In the art gallery at the Triangle Tower of Serdica

The exhibition consists of works by 194 authors. The works are part of different projects, including children's books, scientific publications, encyclopedias, video games, cartoons, calendars, etc.

In 2019, Christmas Trees of Talent became the first social and environmental campaign of Stoyan Kambarev Foundation, aimed at supporting gifted children from large families in need. The foundation's team decided to make it a tradition. Companies and individuals are making a donation this year once again, buying a live Christmas tree, which becomes part of the Christmas Tree Alley in the park in front of the National Palace of Culture. The Christmas trees are already decorating the capital and will remain in the alley on Fridtjof Nansen Blvd. until January 15, 2021.

This year, the star ambassadors of the charity campaign - Maria Ilieva, Miro, Lubo Kirov and Desi Tenekedzhieva, are joined by the young singer Victoria, who will represent Bulgaria at Eurovision 2021.

The exhibition presents art works linked to Mount Athos, its monasteries and history. The exposition’s narrative includes various works, landscape arts, sculptures, angravings, copies of frescoes, drawings, done by some of the most prominent Bulgarian artists of this period. Among them are Ivan Lazarov, Ivan Milev, Vasil Zahariev, Dechko Uzunov, Tsanko Lavrenov.

The project ′′History between II′′ represents two periods in Sofia’s history. Sofia in the first half of the twentieth century. There is an emphasis on the fate of two Sofia’s streets and its architecture, irretrievably lost after the massive bombings on Sofia during World War II. Sofia in the second half of the twentieth century.

Among the illustrated topics are: Sofia in the late 1950s - a story of a group of young people; Sofia in the 1980s and 1990s the story of a boy, who was using a highlighter for making street art; Skateboarding in Sofia in the late 1980s.

The exhibition is organized on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birth of the artist Pencho Gergiev, whose name remains unknown to the younger generations. Having started his creative career in the 1920s, together with artists such as Ivan Milev, Ivan Penkov, Iliya Beshkov, Vasil Stoilov, Ivan Nenov, etc., he is also linked with modernism in Bulgarian art through the Society of New Artists.

The exhibition presents the majority of the artist’s preserved works – over 150. Also included are seven stage projects from the Albert Richard Mohr collection, which are in storage today at the Johann Christian Senckenberg university library in Frankfurt. The exhibition displays early works from the artist’s student years at the Academy of Arts (1920-1925), graphics and paintings from the time he spent in Paris (1929-1932), drawings and illustrations, as well as stage projects and photographs from different productions.

The exhibition is realized in partnership with: Archives State Agency, National Gallery, Regional History Museum – Vratsa and with the support of: Museum Collection of the National Academy of Art – Sofia, Dimitar Dobrotich City Art Gallery – Sliven, University Library Johann Christian Senckenberg - Frankfurt, Svetlin Roussev Donative Exhibition, Pleven, Stanislav Dospevski Art Gallery – Pazardzhik, Sofia Opera and Ballet`s Archive, Ivan Vazov National Theatre`s Archive, Private collections The documentary Pencho Georgiev, 1981, directed by Petko Konstantinov, scriptwriter Alexander Beshkov, can also be seen as part of the exhibition courtesy of the Archive Collection of BNT. The National History Museum presents immersive space “The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia”. The exhibition will run until end of December.

With sensory impulses, authentic video footage, photo archives and emblematic exhibits, the visitor will be “immersed” in the period before and during the bombings, will wander through the calm and beautiful pre-war Sofia, will witness the devastating blow that war inflicted on the city and will experience the fate of the hundreds people who lost their homes. The memories of eyewitnesses, recreated by famous Bulgarian actors will complete the narrative about some of the most dramatic days of the Bulgarian capital.

The project “The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia” was brought to life in partnership with the Bulgarian National Film Archives, and funded by the “Culture” program of Sofia Municipality.

A new initiative of the Sports and Youth Activities Department of Sofia Municipality has been launched, targeted at the young people of Sofia.

Visionary Academy was established to provoke the young generation to search and identify socially significant problems and find solutions to them. The Visionary Academy is an incubator of innovative ideas of young people about the community.

Established experts in various fields of knowledge will assist young visionaries in the process of creating and implementing innovative ideas that support different causes, revealing new approaches, methods, and good practices for successful implementation of ideas.

Тhe exhibition “Sofia – Capital of Unified Bulgaria” focuses on the role of Sofia as epicentre for the decisions which rendered the dream for the unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia possible. The exhibition narrative highlights the act of the Unification and its military defence; the role of diplomacy and of the efforts of the institutions in Sofia; the growth of the town into a capital of unified Bulgaria – a central of all state institutions and a unifying heart for the Bulgarians in the Principality of Bulgaria and in Eastern Rumelia. The exhibition presents exhibits – symbols of the dream for unification. Among them are regulation colours and volunteerunits’ banners, under the folds of which Bulgarians defended at once the cause of the Unification, and Sofia – Serbian forces’ immediate objective.

Personal belongings of Prince Alexander I, of the Speaker of the National Assembly Stefan Stambolov, of the Prime Minister Petko Karavelov, of the Minister of Justice Vasil Radoslavov, of the Minister of War Captain Konstantin Nikiforov, and others, frame Sofia’s efforts towards a swift administrative and legislative integration and towards the transformation of the capital into a centre of Unified Bulgaria.

A specially developed touch-screen application rediscovers Sofia’s place in the events from 135 years ago, focusing on the role of institutions, public buildings, and private homes of the capital’s urban environment.

The exhibition presents the many ways that the “Nutrition in Sofia” has changed in Sofia through time. The current exhibition covers two historical times, from the Liberation of Bulgaria in 1878 to the end of the 19th century, and from the beginning of the 20th century to the 1940s.

There is a special emphasis on a table layout for a solemn lunch in the Royal Palace

The project was brought to life with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and with the assistance of: the National Polytechnic Museum, Sofia City Art Gallery, and Bulgarian State Agency ′′Archives ′′.

The National Palace of Culture is releasing additional tickets for the festive New Year's concert on January 1.

Uniting the mastery of artists from different eras from the "two Americas", the festive New Year's concert "North and South", which is organized by the National Palace of Culture and the Sofia Philharmonic, represents a message and a hope for a better year.

As usual, the concert will be held on January 1 at 6:30pm in Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture.

The exhibition presents the many ways that the “Nutrition in Sofia” has changed in Sofia through time. The current exhibition covers two historical times, from the Liberation of Bulgaria in 1878 to the end of the 19th century, and from the beginning of the 20th century to the 1940s.

There is a special emphasis on a table layout for a solemn lunch in the Royal Palace

The project was brought to life with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and with the assistance of: the National Polytechnic Museum, Sofia City Art Gallery, and Bulgarian State Agency ′′Archives ′′.

In the art gallery at the Triangle Tower of Serdica

The exhibition consists of works by 194 authors. The works are part of different projects, including children's books, scientific publications, encyclopedias, video games, cartoons, calendars, etc.

In 2019, Christmas Trees of Talent became the first social and environmental campaign of Stoyan Kambarev Foundation, aimed at supporting gifted children from large families in need. The foundation's team decided to make it a tradition. Companies and individuals are making a donation this year once again, buying a live Christmas tree, which becomes part of the Christmas Tree Alley in the park in front of the National Palace of Culture. The Christmas trees are already decorating the capital and will remain in the alley on Fridtjof Nansen Blvd. until January 15, 2021.

This year, the star ambassadors of the charity campaign - Maria Ilieva, Miro, Lubo Kirov and Desi Tenekedzhieva, are joined by the young singer Victoria, who will represent Bulgaria at Eurovision 2021.

The exhibition presents art works linked to Mount Athos, its monasteries and history. The exposition’s narrative includes various works, landscape arts, sculptures, angravings, copies of frescoes, drawings, done by some of the most prominent Bulgarian artists of this period. Among them are Ivan Lazarov, Ivan Milev, Vasil Zahariev, Dechko Uzunov, Tsanko Lavrenov.

The exhibition is organized on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birth of the artist Pencho Gergiev, whose name remains unknown to the younger generations. Having started his creative career in the 1920s, together with artists such as Ivan Milev, Ivan Penkov, Iliya Beshkov, Vasil Stoilov, Ivan Nenov, etc., he is also linked with modernism in Bulgarian art through the Society of New Artists.

The exhibition presents the majority of the artist’s preserved works – over 150. Also included are seven stage projects from the Albert Richard Mohr collection, which are in storage today at the Johann Christian Senckenberg university library in Frankfurt. The exhibition displays early works from the artist’s student years at the Academy of Arts (1920-1925), graphics and paintings from the time he spent in Paris (1929-1932), drawings and illustrations, as well as stage projects and photographs from different productions.

The National History Museum presents immersive space “The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia”. The exhibition will run until end of December.

With sensory impulses, authentic video footage, photo archives and emblematic exhibits, the visitor will be “immersed” in the period before and during the bombings, will wander through the calm and beautiful pre-war Sofia, will witness the devastating blow that war inflicted on the city and will experience the fate of the hundreds people who lost their homes. The memories of eyewitnesses, recreated by famous Bulgarian actors will complete the narrative about some of the most dramatic days of the Bulgarian capital.

The project “The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia” was brought to life in partnership with the Bulgarian National Film Archives, and funded by the “Culture” program of Sofia Municipality.

A new initiative of the Sports and Youth Activities Department of Sofia Municipality has been launched, targeted at the young people of Sofia.

Visionary Academy was established to provoke the young generation to search and identify socially significant problems and find solutions to them. The Visionary Academy is an incubator of innovative ideas of young people about the community.

Established experts in various fields of knowledge will assist young visionaries in the process of creating and implementing innovative ideas that support different causes, revealing new approaches, methods, and good practices for successful implementation of ideas.

The exhibition narrative highlights the act of the Unification and its military defence; the role of diplomacy and of the efforts of the institutions in Sofia; the growth of the town into a capital of unified Bulgaria – a central of all state institutions and a unifying heart for the Bulgarians in the Principality of Bulgaria and in Eastern Rumelia. The exhibition presents exhibits – symbols of the dream for unification. Among them are regulation colours and volunteerunits’ banners, under the folds of which Bulgarians defended at once the cause of the Unification, and Sofia – Serbian forces’ immediate objective.

Personal belongings of Prince Alexander I, of the Speaker of the National Assembly Stefan Stambolov, of the Prime Minister Petko Karavelov, of the Minister of Justice Vasil Radoslavov, of the Minister of War Captain Konstantin Nikiforov, and others, frame Sofia’s efforts towards a swift administrative and legislative integration and towards the transformation of the capital into a centre of Unified Bulgaria.

A specially developed touch-screen application rediscovers Sofia’s place in the events from 135 years ago, focusing on the role of institutions, public buildings, and private homes of the capital’s urban environment.

The exhibition is organized on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birth of the artist Pencho Gergiev, whose name remains unknown to the younger generations. Having started his creative career in the 1920s, together with artists such as Ivan Milev, Ivan Penkov, Iliya Beshkov, Vasil Stoilov, Ivan Nenov, etc., he is also linked with modernism in Bulgarian art through the Society of New Artists.

The exhibition presents the majority of the artist’s preserved works – over 150. Also included are seven stage projects from the Albert Richard Mohr collection, which are in storage today at the Johann Christian Senckenberg university library in Frankfurt. The exhibition displays early works from the artist’s student years at the Academy of Arts (1920-1925), graphics and paintings from the time he spent in Paris (1929-1932), drawings and illustrations, as well as stage projects and photographs from different productions.

The National History Museum presents immersive space “The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia”. The exhibition will run until end of December.

With sensory impulses, authentic video footage, photo archives and emblematic exhibits, the visitor will be “immersed” in the period before and during the bombings, will wander through the calm and beautiful pre-war Sofia, will witness the devastating blow that war inflicted on the city and will experience the fate of the hundreds people who lost their homes. The memories of eyewitnesses, recreated by famous Bulgarian actors will complete the narrative about some of the most dramatic days of the Bulgarian capital.

The project “The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia” was brought to life in partnership with the Bulgarian National Film Archives, and funded by the “Culture” program of Sofia Municipality.

A new initiative of the Sports and Youth Activities Department of Sofia Municipality has been launched, targeted at the young people of Sofia.

Visionary Academy was established to provoke the young generation to search and identify socially significant problems and find solutions to them. The Visionary Academy is an incubator of innovative ideas of young people about the community.

Established experts in various fields of knowledge will assist young visionaries in the process of creating and implementing innovative ideas that support different causes, revealing new approaches, methods, and good practices for successful implementation of ideas.

The exhibition narrative highlights the act of the Unification and its military defence; the role of diplomacy and of the efforts of the institutions in Sofia; the growth of the town into a capital of unified Bulgaria – a central of all state institutions and a unifying heart for the Bulgarians in the Principality of Bulgaria and in Eastern Rumelia. The exhibition presents exhibits – symbols of the dream for unification. Among them are regulation colours and volunteerunits’ banners, under the folds of which Bulgarians defended at once the cause of the Unification, and Sofia – Serbian forces’ immediate objective.

Personal belongings of Prince Alexander I, of the Speaker of the National Assembly Stefan Stambolov, of the Prime Minister Petko Karavelov, of the Minister of Justice Vasil Radoslavov, of the Minister of War Captain Konstantin Nikiforov, and others, frame Sofia’s efforts towards a swift administrative and legislative integration and towards the transformation of the capital into a centre of Unified Bulgaria.

A specially developed touch-screen application rediscovers Sofia’s place in the events from 135 years ago, focusing on the role of institutions, public buildings, and private homes of the capital’s urban environment.

There is a special emphasis on a table layout for a solemn lunch in the Royal Palace

The exhibition consists of works by 194 authors. The works are part of different projects, including children's books, scientific publications, encyclopedias, video games, cartoons, calendars, etc.

In 2019, Christmas Trees of Talent became the first social and environmental campaign of Stoyan Kambarev Foundation, aimed at supporting gifted children from large families in need. The foundation's team decided to make it a tradition. Companies and individuals are making a donation this year once again, buying a live Christmas tree, which becomes part of the Christmas Tree Alley in the park in front of the National Palace of Culture. Sofia City Art Gallery presents the exhibition PENCHO GEORGIEV. BETWEEN THEATRE AND LIFE

The exhibition is organized on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birth of the artist Pencho Gergiev, whose name remains unknown to the younger generations. Having started his creative career in the 1920s, together with artists such as Ivan Milev, Ivan Penkov, Iliya Beshkov, Vasil Stoilov, Ivan Nenov, etc., he is also linked with modernism in Bulgarian art through the Society of New Artists.

The exhibition presents the majority of the artist’s preserved works – over 150. Also included are seven stage projects from the Albert Richard Mohr collection, which are in storage today at the Johann Christian Senckenberg university library in Frankfurt. The exhibition displays early works from the artist’s student years at the Academy of Arts (1920-1925), graphics and paintings from the time he spent in Paris (1929-1932), drawings and illustrations, as well as stage projects and photographs from different productions.

The National History Museum presents immersive space “The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia”. The exhibition will run until end of December.

With sensory impulses, authentic video footage, photo archives and emblematic exhibits, the visitor will be “immersed” in the period before and during the bombings, will wander through the calm and beautiful pre-war Sofia, will witness the devastating blow that war inflicted on the city and will experience the fate of the hundreds people who lost their homes. The memories of eyewitnesses, recreated by famous Bulgarian actors will complete the narrative about some of the most dramatic days of the Bulgarian capital.

The project “The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia” was brought to life in partnership with the Bulgarian National Film Archives, and funded by the “Culture” program of Sofia Municipality.

A new initiative of the Sports and Youth Activities Department of Sofia Municipality has been launched, targeted at the young people of Sofia.

Visionary Academy was established to provoke the young generation to search and identify socially significant problems and find solutions to them. The Visionary Academy is an incubator of innovative ideas of young people about the community.

Established experts in various fields of knowledge will assist young visionaries in the process of creating and implementing innovative ideas that support different causes, revealing new approaches, methods, and good practices for successful implementation of ideas.

The exhibition narrative highlights the act of the Unification and its military defence; the role of diplomacy and of the efforts of the institutions in Sofia; the growth of the town into a capital of unified Bulgaria – a central of all state institutions and a unifying heart for the Bulgarians in the Principality of Bulgaria and in Eastern Rumelia. The exhibition presents exhibits – symbols of the dream for unification. Among them are regulation colours and volunteerunits’ banners, under the folds of which Bulgarians defended at once the cause of the Unification, and Sofia – Serbian forces’ immediate objective.

Personal belongings of Prince Alexander I, of the Speaker of the National Assembly Stefan Stambolov, of the Prime Minister Petko Karavelov, of the Minister of Justice Vasil Radoslavov, of the Minister of War Captain Konstantin Nikiforov, and others, frame Sofia’s efforts towards a swift administrative and legislative integration and towards the transformation of the capital into a centre of Unified Bulgaria.

A specially developed touch-screen application rediscovers Sofia’s place in the events from 135 years ago, focusing on the role of institutions, public buildings, and private homes of the capital’s urban environment.

There is a special emphasis on a table layout for a solemn lunch in the Royal Palace

The exhibition consists of works by 194 authors. The works are part of different projects, including children's books, scientific publications, encyclopedias, video games, cartoons, calendars, etc.

In 2019, Christmas Trees of Talent became the first social and environmental campaign of Stoyan Kambarev Foundation, aimed at supporting gifted children from large families in need. The foundation's team decided to make it a tradition. Companies and individuals are making a donation this year once again, buying a live Christmas tree, which becomes part of the Christmas Tree Alley in the park in front of the National Palace of Culture. The Christmas trees are already decorating the capital and will remain in the alley on Fridtjof Nansen Blvd. until January 15, 2021.

This year, the star ambassadors of the charity campaign - Maria Ilieva, Miro, Lubo Kirov and Desi Tenekedzhieva, are joined by the young singer Victoria, who will represent Bulgaria at Eurovision 2021.

The National History Museum presents immersive space “The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia”. The exhibition will run until end of December.

With sensory impulses, authentic video footage, photo archives and emblematic exhibits, the visitor will be “immersed” in the period before and during the bombings, will wander through the calm and beautiful pre-war Sofia, will witness the devastating blow that war inflicted on the city and will experience the fate of the hundreds people who lost their homes. The memories of eyewitnesses, recreated by famous Bulgarian actors will complete the narrative about some of the most dramatic days of the Bulgarian capital.

The project “The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia” was brought to life in partnership with the Bulgarian National Film Archives, and funded by the “Culture” program of Sofia Municipality.

A new initiative of the Sports and Youth Activities Department of Sofia Municipality has been launched, targeted at the young people of Sofia.

Visionary Academy was established to provoke the young generation to search and identify socially significant problems and find solutions to them. The Visionary Academy is an incubator of innovative ideas of young people about the community.

Established experts in various fields of knowledge will assist young visionaries in the process of creating and implementing innovative ideas that support different causes, revealing new approaches, methods, and good practices for successful implementation of ideas.

The exhibition narrative highlights the act of the Unification and its military defence; the role of diplomacy and of the efforts of the institutions in Sofia; the growth of the town into a capital of unified Bulgaria – a central of all state institutions and a unifying heart for the Bulgarians in the Principality of Bulgaria and in Eastern Rumelia. The exhibition presents exhibits – symbols of the dream for unification. Among them are regulation colours and volunteerunits’ banners, under the folds of which Bulgarians defended at once the cause of the Unification, and Sofia – Serbian forces’ immediate objective.

Personal belongings of Prince Alexander I, of the Speaker of the National Assembly Stefan Stambolov, of the Prime Minister Petko Karavelov, of the Minister of Justice Vasil Radoslavov, of the Minister of War Captain Konstantin Nikiforov, and others, frame Sofia’s efforts towards a swift administrative and legislative integration and towards the transformation of the capital into a centre of Unified Bulgaria.

A specially developed touch-screen application rediscovers Sofia’s place in the events from 135 years ago, focusing on the role of institutions, public buildings, and private homes of the capital’s urban environment.

In the art gallery at the Triangle Tower of Serdica

The exhibition consists of works by 194 authors. The works are part of different projects, including children's books, scientific publications, encyclopedias, video games, cartoons, calendars, etc.

In 2019, Christmas Trees of Talent became the first social and environmental campaign of Stoyan Kambarev Foundation, aimed at supporting gifted children from large families in need. The foundation's team decided to make it a tradition. Companies and individuals are making a donation this year once again, buying a live Christmas tree, which becomes part of the Christmas Tree Alley in the park in front of the National Palace of Culture. The Christmas trees are already decorating the capital and will remain in the alley on Fridtjof Nansen Blvd. until January 15, 2021.

This year, the star ambassadors of the charity campaign - Maria Ilieva, Miro, Lubo Kirov and Desi Tenekedzhieva, are joined by the young singer Victoria, who will represent Bulgaria at Eurovision 2021.

The exhibition is organized on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birth of the artist Pencho Gergiev, whose name remains unknown to the younger generations. Having started his creative career in the 1920s, together with artists such as Ivan Milev, Ivan Penkov, Iliya Beshkov, Vasil Stoilov, Ivan Nenov, etc., he is also linked with modernism in Bulgarian art through the Society of New Artists.

The exhibition presents the majority of the artist’s preserved works – over 150. Also included are seven stage projects from the Albert Richard Mohr collection, which are in storage today at the Johann Christian Senckenberg university library in Frankfurt. The exhibition displays early works from the artist’s student years at the Academy of Arts (1920-1925), graphics and paintings from the time he spent in Paris (1929-1932), drawings and illustrations, as well as stage projects and photographs from different productions.

The thirteenth edition of the Sofia MENAR Film Festival dedicated to the best of the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa cinema productions will start on January 15, 2021.

The thirteenth edition of the Sofia MENAR Film Festival dedicated to the best of the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa cinema productions will start on January 15, 2021.

Traditionally, the event focuses on the new Iranian cinema, and this year 13 of the most awarded Iranian movies in the last two years will be presented for the first time.

Тhe exhibition “Sofia – Capital of Unified Bulgaria” focuses on the role of Sofia as epicentre for the decisions which rendered the dream for the unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia possible. The exhibition narrative highlights the act of the Unification and its military defence; the role of diplomacy and of the efforts of the institutions in Sofia; the growth of the town into a capital of unified Bulgaria – a central of all state institutions and a unifying heart for the Bulgarians in the Principality of Bulgaria and in Eastern Rumelia. The exhibition presents exhibits – symbols of the dream for unification. Among them are regulation colours and volunteerunits’ banners, under the folds of which Bulgarians defended at once the cause of the Unification, and Sofia – Serbian forces’ immediate objective.

Personal belongings of Prince Alexander I, of the Speaker of the National Assembly Stefan Stambolov, of the Prime Minister Petko Karavelov, of the Minister of Justice Vasil Radoslavov, of the Minister of War Captain Konstantin Nikiforov, and others, frame Sofia’s efforts towards a swift administrative and legislative integration and towards the transformation of the capital into a centre of Unified Bulgaria.

A specially developed touch-screen application rediscovers Sofia’s place in the events from 135 years ago, focusing on the role of institutions, public buildings, and private homes of the capital’s urban environment.

The exhibition is organized on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birth of the artist Pencho Gergiev, whose name remains unknown to the younger generations. Having started his creative career in the 1920s, together with artists such as Ivan Milev, Ivan Penkov, Iliya Beshkov, Vasil Stoilov, Ivan Nenov, etc., he is also linked with modernism in Bulgarian art through the Society of New Artists.

The exhibition presents the majority of the artist’s preserved works – over 150. Also included are seven stage projects from the Albert Richard Mohr collection, which are in storage today at the Johann Christian Senckenberg university library in Frankfurt. The exhibition displays early works from the artist’s student years at the Academy of Arts (1920-1925), graphics and paintings from the time he spent in Paris (1929-1932), drawings and illustrations, as well as stage projects and photographs from different productions.

The National History Museum presents immersive space “The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia”. The exhibition will run until end of December.

With sensory impulses, authentic video footage, photo archives and emblematic exhibits, the visitor will be “immersed” in the period before and during the bombings, will wander through the calm and beautiful pre-war Sofia, will witness the devastating blow that war inflicted on the city and will experience the fate of the hundreds people who lost their homes. The memories of eyewitnesses, recreated by famous Bulgarian actors will complete the narrative about some of the most dramatic days of the Bulgarian capital.

The project “The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia” was brought to life in partnership with the Bulgarian National Film Archives, and funded by the “Culture” program of Sofia Municipality.

A new initiative of the Sports and Youth Activities Department of Sofia Municipality has been launched, targeted at the young people of Sofia.

The exhibition presents the many ways that the “Nutrition in Sofia” has changed in Sofia through time. The current exhibition covers two historical times, from the Liberation of Bulgaria in 1878 to the end of the 19th century, and from the beginning of the 20th century to the 1940s.

There is a special emphasis on a table layout for a solemn lunch in the Royal Palace

The project was brought to life with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and with the assistance of: the National Polytechnic Museum, Sofia City Art Gallery, and Bulgarian State Agency ′′Archives ′′.

The exhibition presents art works linked to Mount Athos, its monasteries and history. The exposition’s narrative includes various works, landscape arts, sculptures, angravings, copies of frescoes, drawings, done by some of the most prominent Bulgarian artists of this period. Among them are Ivan Lazarov, Ivan Milev, Vasil Zahariev, Dechko Uzunov, Tsanko Lavrenov.

Sofia City Art Gallery presents the exhibition PENCHO GEORGIEV. BETWEEN THEATRE AND LIFE

The exhibition is organized on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birth of the artist Pencho Gergiev, whose name remains unknown to the younger generations. Having started his creative career in the 1920s, together with artists such as Ivan Milev, Ivan Penkov, Iliya Beshkov, Vasil Stoilov, Ivan Nenov, etc., he is also linked with modernism in Bulgarian art through the Society of New Artists.

The exhibition presents the majority of the artist’s preserved works – over 150. Also included are seven stage projects from the Albert Richard Mohr collection, which are in storage today at the Johann Christian Senckenberg university library in Frankfurt. The exhibition displays early works from the artist’s student years at the Academy of Arts (1920-1925), graphics and paintings from the time he spent in Paris (1929-1932), drawings and illustrations, as well as stage projects and photographs from different productions.

The exhibition is realized in partnership with: Archives State Agency, National Gallery, Regional History Museum – Vratsa and with the support of: Museum Collection of the National Academy of Art – Sofia, Dimitar Dobrotich City Art Gallery – Sliven, University Library Johann Christian Senckenberg - Frankfurt, Svetlin Roussev Donative Exhibition, Pleven, Stanislav Dospevski Art Gallery – Pazardzhik, Sofia Opera and Ballet`s Archive, Ivan Vazov National Theatre`s Archive, Private collections The documentary Pencho Georgiev, 1981, directed by Petko Konstantinov, scriptwriter Alexander Beshkov, can also be seen as part of the exhibition courtesy of the Archive Collection of BNT. The National History Museum presents immersive space “The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia”. The exhibition will run until end of December.

With sensory impulses, authentic video footage, photo archives and emblematic exhibits, the visitor will be “immersed” in the period before and during the bombings, will wander through the calm and beautiful pre-war Sofia, will witness the devastating blow that war inflicted on the city and will experience the fate of the hundreds people who lost their homes. The memories of eyewitnesses, recreated by famous Bulgarian actors will complete the narrative about some of the most dramatic days of the Bulgarian capital.

The project “The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia” was brought to life in partnership with the Bulgarian National Film Archives, and funded by the “Culture” program of Sofia Municipality.

A new initiative of the Sports and Youth Activities Department of Sofia Municipality has been launched, targeted at the young people of Sofia.

Visionary Academy was established to provoke the young generation to search and identify socially significant problems and find solutions to them. The Visionary Academy is an incubator of innovative ideas of young people about the community.

Established experts in various fields of knowledge will assist young visionaries in the process of creating and implementing innovative ideas that support different causes, revealing new approaches, methods, and good practices for successful implementation of ideas.

The thirteenth edition of the Sofia MENAR Film Festival dedicated to the best of the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa cinema productions will start on January 15, 2021.

Traditionally, the event focuses on the new Iranian cinema, and this year 13 of the most awarded Iranian movies in the last two years will be presented for the first time.

Sofia MENAR will present over 30 movies, which will be available online at neterra.tv from January 15 to January 31, 2021

THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF MILITARY HISTORY PRESENTS THE EXHIBITION “SOFIA – CAPITAL OF UNIFIED BULGARIA”

Тhe exhibition “Sofia – Capital of Unified Bulgaria” focuses on the role of Sofia as epicentre for the decisions which rendered the dream for the unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia possible. The exhibition narrative highlights the act of the Unification and its military defence; the role of diplomacy and of the efforts of the institutions in Sofia; the growth of the town into a capital of unified Bulgaria – a central of all state institutions and a unifying heart for the Bulgarians in the Principality of Bulgaria and in Eastern Rumelia. The exhibition presents exhibits – symbols of the dream for unification. Among them are regulation colours and volunteerunits’ banners, under the folds of which Bulgarians defended at once the cause of the Unification, and Sofia – Serbian forces’ immediate objective.

Personal belongings of Prince Alexander I, of the Speaker of the National Assembly Stefan Stambolov, of the Prime Minister Petko Karavelov, of the Minister of Justice Vasil Radoslavov, of the Minister of War Captain Konstantin Nikiforov, and others, frame Sofia’s efforts towards a swift administrative and legislative integration and towards the transformation of the capital into a centre of Unified Bulgaria.

A specially developed touch-screen application rediscovers Sofia’s place in the events from 135 years ago, focusing on the role of institutions, public buildings, and private homes of the capital’s urban environment.

Entrance fee. Tickets at the ticket-desk of National Museum of Military History.

The National History Museum presents immersive space “The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia”. The exhibition will run until end of December.

With sensory impulses, authentic video footage, photo archives and emblematic exhibits, the visitor will be “immersed” in the period before and during the bombings, will wander through the calm and beautiful pre-war Sofia, will witness the devastating blow that war inflicted on the city and will experience the fate of the hundreds people who lost their homes. The memories of eyewitnesses, recreated by famous Bulgarian actors will complete the narrative about some of the most dramatic days of the Bulgarian capital.

The project “The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia” was brought to life in partnership with the Bulgarian National Film Archives, and funded by the “Culture” program of Sofia Municipality.

A new initiative of the Sports and Youth Activities Department of Sofia Municipality has been launched, targeted at the young people of Sofia.

Visionary Academy was established to provoke the young generation to search and identify socially significant problems and find solutions to them. The Visionary Academy is an incubator of innovative ideas of young people about the community.

Established experts in various fields of knowledge will assist young visionaries in the process of creating and implementing innovative ideas that support different causes, revealing new approaches, methods, and good practices for successful implementation of ideas.

The thirteenth edition of the Sofia MENAR Film Festival dedicated to the best of the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa cinema productions will start on January 15, 2021.

Traditionally, the event focuses on the new Iranian cinema, and this year 13 of the most awarded Iranian movies in the last two years will be presented for the first time.

Тhe exhibition “Sofia – Capital of Unified Bulgaria” focuses on the role of Sofia as epicentre for the decisions which rendered the dream for the unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia possible. The exhibition narrative highlights the act of the Unification and its military defence; the role of diplomacy and of the efforts of the institutions in Sofia; the growth of the town into a capital of unified Bulgaria – a central of all state institutions and a unifying heart for the Bulgarians in the Principality of Bulgaria and in Eastern Rumelia. The exhibition presents exhibits – symbols of the dream for unification. Among them are regulation colours and volunteerunits’ banners, under the folds of which Bulgarians defended at once the cause of the Unification, and Sofia – Serbian forces’ immediate objective.

Personal belongings of Prince Alexander I, of the Speaker of the National Assembly Stefan Stambolov, of the Prime Minister Petko Karavelov, of the Minister of Justice Vasil Radoslavov, of the Minister of War Captain Konstantin Nikiforov, and others, frame Sofia’s efforts towards a swift administrative and legislative integration and towards the transformation of the capital into a centre of Unified Bulgaria.

A specially developed touch-screen application rediscovers Sofia’s place in the events from 135 years ago, focusing on the role of institutions, public buildings, and private homes of the capital’s urban environment.

The exposition’s narrative includes various works, landscape arts, sculptures, angravings, copies of frescoes, drawings, done by some of the most prominent Bulgarian artists of this period. The exhibition is organized on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birth of the artist Pencho Gergiev, whose name remains unknown to the younger generations. Having started his creative career in the 1920s, together with artists such as Ivan Milev, Ivan Penkov, Iliya Beshkov, Vasil Stoilov, Ivan Nenov, etc., he is also linked with modernism in Bulgarian art through the Society of New Artists.

The exhibition presents the majority of the artist’s preserved works – over 150. Also included are seven stage projects from the Albert Richard Mohr collection, which are in storage today at the Johann Christian Senckenberg university library in Frankfurt. The exhibition displays early works from the artist’s student years at the Academy of Arts (1920-1925), graphics and paintings from the time he spent in Paris (1929-1932), drawings and illustrations, as well as stage projects and photographs from different productions.

Personal belongings of Prince Alexander I, of the Speaker of the National Assembly Stefan Stambolov, of the Prime Minister Petko Karavelov, of the Minister of Justice Vasil Radoslavov, of the Minister of War Captain Konstantin Nikiforov, and others, frame Sofia’s efforts towards a swift administrative and legislative integration and towards the transformation of the capital into a centre of Unified Bulgaria.

A specially developed touch-screen application rediscovers Sofia’s place in the events from 135 years ago, focusing on the role of institutions, public buildings, and private homes of the capital’s urban environment.

There is a special emphasis on a table layout for a solemn lunch in the Royal Palace

The project was brought to life with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and with the assistance of: the National Polytechnic Museum, Sofia City Art Gallery, and Bulgarian State Agency ′′Archives ′′.

The exhibition is organized on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birth of the artist Pencho Gergiev, whose name remains unknown to the younger generations. Having started his creative career in the 1920s, together with artists such as Ivan Milev, Ivan Penkov, Iliya Beshkov, Vasil Stoilov, Ivan Nenov, etc., he is also linked with modernism in Bulgarian art through the Society of New Artists.

The exhibition presents the majority of the artist’s preserved works – over 150. Also included are seven stage projects from the Albert Richard Mohr collection, which are in storage today at the Johann Christian Senckenberg university library in Frankfurt. The exhibition displays early works from the artist’s student years at the Academy of Arts (1920-1925), graphics and paintings from the time he spent in Paris (1929-1932), drawings and illustrations, as well as stage projects and photographs from different productions.

The National History Museum presents immersive space “The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia”. The exhibition will run until end of December.

With sensory impulses, authentic video footage, photo archives and emblematic exhibits, the visitor will be “immersed” in the period before and during the bombings, will wander through the calm and beautiful pre-war Sofia, will witness the devastating blow that war inflicted on the city and will experience the fate of the hundreds people who lost their homes. The memories of eyewitnesses, recreated by famous Bulgarian actors will complete the narrative about some of the most dramatic days of the Bulgarian capital.

The project “The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia” was brought to life in partnership with the Bulgarian National Film Archives, and funded by the “Culture” program of Sofia Municipality.

A new initiative of the Sports and Youth Activities Department of Sofia Municipality has been launched, targeted at the young people of Sofia.

Visionary Academy was established to provoke the young generation to search and identify socially significant problems and find solutions to them. The Visionary Academy is an incubator of innovative ideas of young people about the community.

Established experts in various fields of knowledge will assist young visionaries in the process of creating and implementing innovative ideas that support different causes, revealing new approaches, methods, and good practices for successful implementation of ideas.

The thirteenth edition of the Sofia MENAR Film Festival dedicated to the best of the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa cinema productions will start on January 15, 2021.

Traditionally, the event focuses on the new Iranian cinema, and this year 13 of the most awarded Iranian movies in the last two years will be presented for the first time.

SOFIA CITY ART GALLERY presents the exhibition Garden of Spirituality. Mount Athos and Bulgarian Art from Early to Mid-20th Century

The exhibition presents art works linked to Mount Athos, its monasteries and history. The exposition’s narrative includes various works, landscape arts, sculptures, angravings, copies of frescoes, drawings, done by some of the most prominent Bulgarian artists of this period. Among them are Ivan Lazarov, Ivan Milev, Vasil Zahariev, Dechko Uzunov, Tsanko Lavrenov.

Sofia City Art Gallery presents the exhibition PENCHO GEORGIEV. BETWEEN THEATRE AND LIFE

The exhibition is organized on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birth of the artist Pencho Gergiev, whose name remains unknown to the younger generations. Having started his creative career in the 1920s, together with artists such as Ivan Milev, Ivan Penkov, Iliya Beshkov, Vasil Stoilov, Ivan Nenov, etc., he is also linked with modernism in Bulgarian art through the Society of New Artists.

The exhibition presents the majority of the artist’s preserved works – over 150. Also included are seven stage projects from the Albert Richard Mohr collection, which are in storage today at the Johann Christian Senckenberg university library in Frankfurt. The exhibition displays early works from the artist’s student years at the Academy of Arts (1920-1925), graphics and paintings from the time he spent in Paris (1929-1932), drawings and illustrations, as well as stage projects and photographs from different productions.

The exhibition is realized in partnership with: Archives State Agency, National Gallery, Regional History Museum – Vratsa and with the support of: Museum Collection of the National Academy of Art – Sofia, Dimitar Dobrotich City Art Gallery – Sliven, University Library Johann Christian Senckenberg - Frankfurt, Svetlin Roussev Donative Exhibition, Pleven, Stanislav Dospevski Art Gallery – Pazardzhik, Sofia Opera and Ballet`s Archive, Ivan Vazov National Theatre`s Archive, Private collections The documentary Pencho Georgiev, 1981, directed by Petko Konstantinov, scriptwriter Alexander Beshkov, can also be seen as part of the exhibition courtesy of the Archive Collection of BNT. A catalogue in Bulgarian and English is provided as well.
