Vitosha – Sofia’s Greatest Summer Attraction

Even during the hottest summer days, Sofia can offer a refreshing walk in the mountain as parts of Vitosha are situated on the territory of the capital. Thus, everyone is tempted to workout, to reach almost the top of the mountain with one of the two mountain lifts - from Simeonovo or from Dragalevtsi, to take a walk among the forests or to enjoy the forest meadows, to run or cycle in the mountain, or to participate in numerous sports competitions.

This year, Sofia is proud to be named European Capital of Sport and thus is offering an even more colorful program of sports events. Over 2000 residents and guests of Sofia participated in sports competitions on July 23, 2018 near Momina Salza hut. They were part of the Vitosha Summer Fest organized under the motto "I Love Sport, I Love Sofia, I Love Vitosha". Sofia Municipality aims to provide the residents and guests of Sofia with more opportunities for an active and healthy way of life. On August 26, Vitosha Run will take place which will additionally challenge the runners of Sofia. You can find more information at:
