FLUCA: Austrian Cultural Pavilion – Cultural Ambassador in Sofia

In July you can find FLUCA - Austrian Cultural Pavilion in one of the key central locations in Sofia – Sveta Nedelya Square, and in front of it are positioned the so-called Enzi – designer objects for seating. The pavilion threw a big party to celebrate its opening in Sofia with which also marked the beginning of the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the EU. Every evening in July the pavilion surprised the connoisseurs of high-quality music (guests and residents of the city) who danced together in the square till the early hours of the morning. On July 13 there was a screening of Iv Toshain's movie Refugees, and on July 14 - a performance. Meetings were held on several consecutive days – presentations on important for the development of Sofia topics – the Chief Architect of Sofia Municipality Zdravko Zdravkov talked about the new pedestrian zone on Vitosha Blvd. as well as about the international competition for the reconstruction of Sveta Nedelya Square. The Green Line Sofia Project which aims to adapt the abandoned railway lines around the center of the Bulgarian capital was also presented. The initiative for creating a long-term strategy for the development of Sofia and the suburban territories - Vision for Sofia, was also discussed. The art container was located in Sveta Nedelya Square till July 20 when it was sent off with a party and then it was placed in front of the National Theatre till the first days of August where the Pavilion offered concerts, performances and video installations to its audience.
