In July started the renovation of the central zone of Sofia where are loacated a lot of the city’s symbols – St Sophia Church, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral Church, the Monument to Vasil Levski, the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, the Monument to the Tsar Liberator, the garden in front of Sofia University St Kliment Ohridski and the National Assembly. This is where most of the events of national and urban importance are traditionally held throughout the year. The project includes a lot of symbolic landmarks – some of the city gardens, several central streets and squares. Along with the renovations of the parks, gardens and playgrounds in Sofia amounting to over BGN 24 million of investments the public transport vehicles of the city are also being modernized. By the end of July 2018 around 60% of the buses had already been replaced with new ones and Stolichen Avtotransport is getting ready to purchase over 20 hybrid buses. True to its motto, Sofia grows, but does not age.
