Rila Miracle-Maker Pilgrimage will gather once again hundreds of followers

Take part in the millennial pilgrimage tradition of Sofia, which with every passing year has more and more followers! From August 1 to August 6, 2019, the largest pilgrimage in Bulgaria – the Rila Miracle Maker Pilgrimage, will take place. This year, we will celebrate the 550th anniversary since the relics of the most beloved Bulgarian saint - St. John of Rila – were returned in Rila Monastery. In the span of 6 days, you will follow the path of the monks from the Rila Monastery who in 1469 carried his relics. The pilgrimage will pass through three of the most beautiful Bulgarian mountains – Vitosha, Verila, and Rila, and people of all ages will be able to take part in it. It starts at 9 o’clock, on August 1 from Saint Sophia Church in Sofia.
