Late Antique Mausoleum Will Become one of Sofia’s New Attractions

Within two years, cultural and historical riches will be accessible to tourists

Sofia Municipality invests in archaeological research and infrastructure in order to turn Sofia into an even more attractive place for its residents and guests. In August 2019, a contract was signed for repair works, as well as the conservation, restoration, display and socialization of the archeological remains of a Late Antique mausoleum, discovered in the immediate vicinity of Yuzhen Park in Sofia. Within two years, the Late Antique mausoleum from the Roman era will become a tourist attraction with an information center, a new network of alleys to provide visitors with access to the exhibited sites, alley lighting, recreation areas and a children's playground.

The joint project "Increasing the tourism activity of Sofia and Niš" is between Sofia Municipality, Niš Tourism Organization, Institute for Progress and Cooperation of Western Balkans region - Nis Association and Love and Light Association - Montana.
