Thursday, 31 October 2019

Slatina Neolithic Settlement will become an archaeological park and will offer an interesting trip back in history – back to the seventh millennium BC

Slatina Neolithic Settlement now has its own plan for the creation of an archeological park. A protective cover project and a plan for a small visitor center have also been developed. They are yet to be executed. The study of the Early Neolithic settlement was carried out with the support of Sofia's Culture Program, with the ambition Sofia to present its rich cultural and historical heritage to the world. This settlement from the Early Neolithic period in Slatina existed during the period 6 100 - 5 500 BC and is among the oldest ones on the Balkans. Its remains cover an area of about 300 decares. Its inhabitants were some of the creators of the first European civilization.

This future archaeological park will further increase the attractive force of the destination and will enrich its cultural and historical tourism product. Undoubtedly, the Bulgarian capital is presenting more and more options to its visitors and is able to surprise them pleasantly – come and see for yourself!
